RBC Founding President Adam Muellerweiss to step down after 10 years of leadership of the organization
WASHINGTON - The Responsible Battery Coalition (RBC), a coalition of leading stakeholders working toward a circular economy for batteries and their critical minerals, today announced Micah Mahnke as the new president of the organization.
Mahnke is Vice President of Enterprise Sourcing at Clarios and a veteran battery industry executive with more than 25 years of experience in procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain management. He will lead the RBC in its efforts.
“Batteries power today’s economy and will be even more essential in the future. Working together with the largest stakeholders in the battery supply chain, we can achieve a more reliable and circular economy for America,” said Micah Mahnke, president of the RBC. "It is an honor to lead this unique coalition of industry leaders dedicated to researching and implementing solutions for greater strength for our country and industry."

“We are incredibly excited for Micah to join the RBC team, furthering our mission to foster security through supply chains,” said RBC Executive Director Steve Christensen. “We look forward to working with him to advance the responsible production, transport, sale, use, reuse, recycling, and resource recovery of transportation, industrial, and stationary batteries and other energy storage devices, as well as the critical minerals that make them possible.”
In addition to his roles at the RBC and Clarios, Mahnke serves as an advisory board member for the Marquette University Supply Chain School of Business. He is also the co-inventor of a patented battery terminal cover designed to improve starter battery safety and performance.
Adam Muellerweiss, RBC's founding president, provided more than a decade of visionary leadership. He established the coalition in 2017 and built it into a leading voice for both scientific research and the national security importance of a resilient domestic battery supply chain. Under his leadership, the RBC advanced policies to secure the domestic battery supply chain, strengthen U.S. manufacturing, and reduce reliance on adversarial sources of critical minerals. Muellerweiss also testified before the U.S. Senate on transportation technologies and battery recycling innovation and championed initiatives such as Project Vault, which strengthen America’s critical minerals supply chain.
“We want to thank Adam for his forward-looking role in founding RBC and his strong leadership of the coalition over the last ten years,” said Christensen. “Adam has been a visionary leader across the value chain for batteries, and we are grateful to have his continued support.”
Mahnke's appointment takes effect immediately as the RBC continues its work advancing a circular economy for batteries and critical minerals across the United States and allied nations. Key initiatives for the RBC include its Critical Minerals Leadership Roundtable, partnerships with leading research institutions, and support of important programs like Backhaul Alaska.
